DIN, the German Institute for Standardisation, strives – together with the project partners as well as further experts who will work on the DIN panels – to promote standardisation in Germany and, in the long term, on an international level.
In order to carry out the work on norms and standards in innovative projects, DIN uses the instrument of development-attended standardisation (EBN).
The goal of the "Development-Attended Standardisation" sub-project is to transfer the standardisation-relevant results acquired in the project from the sub-projects "Quality Assurance", "Rich Media" and "Mobile Learning" into the standardisation.
In this context, DIN provides – within the framework of development-attended standardisation (EBN) – the technological infrastructure for the work which is to be done in the panels and committees, and takes over the planning and co-ordination of standardisation work, including informing the general public accordingly. Furthermore, DIN ensures that the results conform to the existing national and international bodies of rules.
The standardisation-relevant documents thus drawn up are published in the form of PAS (publicly available specifications) and, with the involvement of DIN, are integrated into the network of international standardisation – also at European and international level – with the aim of establishing the standards drawn up in this project as international norms.
In order to carry out this work, DIN has planned the following work packages:
